Hi,

I want to use statice compression for my website. I was planning on editing the DNN web.config by adding the following:

<httpCompression directory="%SystemDrive%\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files">
    <scheme name="gzip" dll="%Windir%\system32\inetsrv\gzip.dll"/>
    <staticTypes>
      <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true"/>
      <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true"/>
      <add mimeType="application/javascript" enabled="true"/>
      <add mimeType="application/javascript; charset=utf-8" enabled="true"/>
      <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true"/>
      <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false"/>
    </staticTypes>
  </httpCompression>

Inside <system.webServer>

I would also leave <urlCompression doStaticCompression="true" /> which is already there.

However I noticed this line is also there:

<add name="Compression" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.CompressionModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules" preCondition="managedHandler" />

Should I remove that or leave it there?

Thanks a lot! The reason I am not doing this through Dotnetnuke is that dotnetnuke seems to only compress default.aspx. Also if there is a better way (like editing compression.config which I have seen no documentation for) please let me know!

DotNetNuke has an optional compression option (which can be found under host->host settings), but if you have the ability to enable IIS compression that's recommended (leave the httpmodule reference, if it's not enabled it wont be run). You can find other performance tips on the wiki at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...
