Okay - sorry I was not clear.  The connection to the main DNN database (call it DB 1) works fine.  The connection to my SQL SERVER 2005 database, which is hosted separately (DB 2) is not working.  It's not DB2 that is the problem.  And the module I use to create views of the data in DB 2 is working fine.  And I also don't think it is the connection string, as that was not changed prior to the crash.

Thanks for taking the time to forward your thoughtful suggestions on how I might resolve this.  Here is the error message:

Error: The Votes is currently unavailable.

This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Timeout expired. Now I understand. Although I have not worked with the IndooGrid module, it is my understanding from their on-line documentation that the connection string for a remote database (that is, other than the DotNetNuke website database) is set not in web.config but rather in the module's settings. I would suggest 1) taking a look at the IndooLab.com website for more information and support and 2) sending the complete error message to the support department of the host for the remote database. The error would seem to indicate a database timeout/performance issue possibly relating to database connections not being properly released.

Hi Bob, William is correct. The connection for Indoogrid to a different database is set in the module itself. I'm testing Indoogrid and it took me some time to connect to a database other then the DNN instance. In the Tablesettings of the module, under Connection string I stated: Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Initial Catalog=catalogname;User ID=userid;Password=XXXX This connects to the second database and from there you are able to select tables, etc. Hope this helps and good luck.
