After upgrading to 5.6.1,  everything looks fine, I can open my website and login via HOST, under host menu I can go to all HOST pages, but when I go to the Module Definition page,  the list is empty.   Yet, I can see all the modules in the dropdown list above.   nothing is erroring in the log file.   Any ideas

No, the following HOST pages display nothing:
Module Definitions
Extentions
Marketplace
Dashboard
Whats new
Configuration

The rest of the Host Pages open fine
Host settings
Portals
File manager
Vendor
SQL
Schedule
Search
List
SuperUSer

CLUE:    Regardless of if the page displays or not.  The status bar shows "1 item remaining".   I've checked the following

Version table: show all updates upto  5.6.1 -- matches Host Settings
Errorlog table:   No errors reported
I've restarted application, rebooted  - no change

hm, it looks like there has been an upgrade issue. you may add modules manually - or roll back and redo the upgrade.
