I know this has been asked a zillion times before, but my situation is ... Unique I think. I have compared dozens of hosts, but can't find the perfect one.

I want to kill my server...

For many years I have run my own server. I have many DNN installs on it.

Recently, it got hacked. Every single DNN install (okay they were old... ver 4.x, I know) has been compromised. I am presuming a SQL injection or some such thing, that is beside the point...

The bottom line is this:

  1. I used to have quite a few sites, but recently took a full time job and the sites have dwindled lately.
  2. There is a mix of regular sites and DNN sites.
  3. I am tired of the admin headaches of running a server, not least of which the $100 a month I have to shell out for business class bandwidth just so I can have a lousy static IP.
  4. I do not want to re-OS the server. It is just too much hassle for the handful of sites I am still running. So I am considering a web host.
  5. I need unlimited domains.
  6. I need MS SQL databases.
  7. I need ASP.NET support
  8. The regular mail, and other goodies are desireable.
  9. I need it to be reliable. In the past I have had hosts simply vanish into thin air...

So, I ask you, the venerable DNN crowd:

What say you?  Do you know of a good solid host that will do DNN & regular domains?

I thank you in advance. I appreciate your time.

Wow. Only crickets so far...

C'mon guys tell me about your hosts... Do you like them? Would you sign with them again?

Do tell...

Thanks in advance.

Ok... Arvixe looks good.

I am located in California. Do any of you have good/back experiences with them? I like the fact that they are a DNN partner...

I am 99% sold on them. I just need to know if they support domains other than DNN.

Best regards,

Techknow

Given your knowledge of the server side of things I would say 3essentials.com would be the best choice. If you don't want to mess with anything server side then PowerDNN.com would be best choice.

Awesome.

I will look at both companies in detail. It is a good question. Do I want the power to tweak stuff, or the ease of not having to tweak stuff.

My guess is, I want the ease of non-tweakage, but I am thinking it is more sensible to go for the power...

One day I am hoping to spend less than 60 hrs a week tekking. I am just happy I have shaved it down from 80.

Thanks for the input.
