Thanks Gilles,

I must have been thinking about another module.

 Keep up the good work.

Hi Giles, I'd like to thank you in advance for your generosity of time and effort here.

I'm just learning this stuff so I need a bit of hand holding :-). I'm trying to setup a basic e-commerce site for a friend. The site will have a catalog of approximately 30 items. I should be able to handle something of that scope though I will admit I have no hands on experience at building a web site. I think I have an adequate grasp of the principles, but maybe not. We shall see :-)

So to my quandary; I have DNN_6.2.1 installed to localhost and have the Store_03.00.00 downloaded and unzipped.  I'm attempting the Manual install. The documents on codeplex appear to be for an earlier version of DNN. At least I can not find the "Host > Module Definition" page referred to in the Docs. When I open the HOST menu I don't find anything that says "Modules". There is of course an "Extensions" icon but there doesn't seem to be a way to do a local search. I've looked around a bit and I imagine that the process should be completely intuitive. I fear it is, but not for my intuition :-). I understand that I should be able to browse to the unzipped file location. But for the life of me I can't seem to find the place in DNN where I should be doing this.

Please, respond in your own good time and at your convenience

Mahalo Nui Loa.

Hi,

For your first steps with DNN, you should download and read User and SuperUser Manuals from this page. You will learn basic operations like how to install a module, manage pages and so on. From the Online Help, you will found valuable informations about DNN and 'Core Modules'; in the menu to the left expand 'Building Your Site' then 'Using DotNetNuke Project Modules'. Also, you can found plentry of information in the Wiki.

Installing the Store module is like any other module, you download the 'ModuleName_xx.yy.zz_Install.zip' file from Codeplex (where xx.yy.zz is the module version number) and you do NOT extract the content! A module is uploaded as a zip package then extracted and installed by DNN.

With DNN 6.x, connect to your website using a Superuser account (host) and go to Host > Extensions. Move your mouse pointer hover the 'Manage' button appearing above the 'Extensions' title and select 'Install Extension wizard'. Click on the 'Browse...' button and select the Store install package you downloaded previously, then click on the 'Next' button. Follow instructions and your module will be installed! :-)

Continue with the chapter 3 of the Store Install Guide to prepare your store. Don't forget to download and read the Templating Guide to personalize your store.

Gilles

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Thanks for the clarifications and pointers. I had already d/led the Manuals. The Help and Wiki initially may be the most enlightening.

Thanks again for the assistance. I'll post back at some point to report progress and/ or ask additional questions.

Aloha,

I've got the Store module(s) installed and started on the configuration. I am stopped at "d." Store Category Admin in the Configuration guide. I presume, since there is no mention to the contrary that the Store Category Admin dialog should appear below "Shipping Admin" on the Store Admin page. It does not and I don't see it elsewhere.  As you can imagine I am feeling rather obtuse about now :-( .Can you guide?

Thanks in advance, HalinQuincy
