I am having a similar issue.  Factor in social login authoring and I can see why it would be necessary to unify usernames across portals of a single installation.  It is likely I could be running a single installation and have the same user registering using their [choose a social account] with more than 1 of my sites.

How best to resolve this?  (thanks)

I have had a user try this and is getting an error that the username already exists and to try another one. I am using email as username so that might have something to do with it. Is DNN supposed to just add the user to the other portal they are trying to register for? I have had to do it directly in the database so having the ability for users to do is key so they don't have to contact me to register for another portal.

Any ideas?

I posted a summary of how to have users in multiple DNN portals to the wiki. Please add any additional detail or info you think might be appropriate.

I am not sure this link is working.  Has this article been moved?
