Environment: W2003 / IIS 6.0 / AD Provider configured correctly / WindowsSignin.aspx page with Anonymous Off, IWA On.

IE always pops up log-in dialog while accessing site either from workstation or from the server where DNN is installed. Upon supplying correct user id and password, user can proceed to the site. However, using the same user id and password (domain\user) from server, the log-in never works. Pop-up doesn't go away in IE.

Wondering it's an IE (I believe IE6) behavior in W2003. Seen this at two customer sites.

It turned out W2003 SP1 introduced a feature that prevented loopback access. This article has ways to resolve the problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926642.

"Error message when you try to access a server locally by using its FQDN or its CNAME alias after you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1: "Access denied" or "No network provider accepted the given network path"
