If I want to link to a picture on my website what is the URL for DNN 5.6.0 ?  I tried this http://shortrans.com/portal/0/filename.jpg but it's not working for me.

Change portal to portals (with an S) and see if it works.

Have you tried:

http://shortrans.com/portals/0/filename.jpg or if from a page in the same domain, portals/0/filename.jpg ?

Note in particular the "s" on portals.
