Recently we released a iphone news app for our company. iWebs News http://www.interactivewebs.com/iwebsn...

Because a large amount of our development energy is for DotNetNuke, we have included a DotNetNuke news section in the app that is displaying some of the blogs on this website. You can also find news on the updates and release information for our modules, and feeds from our blog.

We have also been working on a DotNetNuke integration module / app combination. This will allow a DotNetNuke site owner to install a free DNN module, that will then allow the iPhone app to pull data like:

User data - Contact information
Create new users (portal signup on the phone_
Forum reading and posting

What we would like to understand is how much interest there is around for iPhone and DotNetNuke integration in the community? If you have any comments or suggestions, please let us know them in this forum.

This is my opinion, and I may have mis-interpreted your query but....

Not that I'm an authority on the subject... in my experience, few of the people I know from the cell phone business, ironically even those working in the brick and mortar cell carrier locations, as well as most in the related tech sector do not use iPhone nor iPad, save for those addicted to the apple fruit. However, I don't know your customers' user base so it may be something to look into, if that is one of the significant devices the users utlilize for accessing the site(s). Statistics for the sites should tell you the user-agent strings for browsers accessing it and if it's 15-25% iPhone/iPad related then you may be onto something. However, any well designed site should be able to take into account multiple browsers, including mobile, and such leaving what you are seeking to be more of an "app" than a site modification/module.

Thanks for your thoughts. What country are you in?

I'm in the USA.

And I think I might have mis-spoke, or at least left myself to ambiguous interpretation. I meant to say that few people I know use the iPhone or iPad in the industry I work. Most I see are Blackberry or older WM6+ devices, and laptops with air-cards.

Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it.

Yes I guess we are looking ahead on things a little. We definitely see a future with mobile devices and app based usage like iPad etc.

We also have noticed that since DNN corp, that DNN community use is suffering a slow death. So we hope that we can do our bit to breath new life into a future with mobile device integration.

That's the hope anyway..

Would be nice if the goal of DNN corp was to "Make a premium platform that exceeds others", or to "provide a user experience that is outstanding". Rather than the current goal of being a $1 billion dollar company. (how lame) http://vimeo.com/21670692

After all, people buy why you do something, not what you do!

No one is going to buy... "I want to help DNN corp be a $1 billion company" now are they!
