I would like to have a column that contains the user name that created the entry. But, I would like for the column to be set by the system and not editable by the user. This is so I can export the data as a csv file and it will contain the users ID for later sorting using a spreadsheet.

I assume that using a "calculated column" and somehow using the token [User:Username] to fill the data would work, but I'm a loss as to how to get it to work.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You can use the built in column [created by], no calculated column needed.

Hi Stefan,

I'm using DNN 4.9.2 and UDT 3.05.01, and it appears that the built-in [Created by] column is either stored or returned as the users display name (which isn't unique) not the users login (which is unique). So the [Created by] column might contain a dozen entries for "john" that could be different users.

For example, if I look at an entry that I created while logged in as the default host account the [Created by] column states "Superuser Account" which isn't the login / user name. It's the Display name.

So, do you know of any expression that will instruct the calculated column to return [User:Username]?

Thanks!

Jim

Jim, please see UDT user manual, table on page 16-17 shows the proper syntax:
[Changed by_UDT_Original] returns user name, while [Changed by_UDT_Url] returns a link to the user's profile

Hi Sebastian,

I assume you mean [Created by_UDT_Original].

So what would the expression be to return the value [Created by_UDT_Original] in a calculated column?

Thanks again!
