I googled the message "ExceptionSystem.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array. at DotNetNuke.Services.EventQueue.EventQueueController.GetSubscribers"

That led me to a blog post suggesting changes to the file Portals\_default\EventQueue\EventQueue.config.  The readme.txt in that folder suggested that it was safe to just delete the EventQueue.config file as it would be automatically created if needed.

I copied my site and database, deleted the file and I found my upgrade would run clean.  I've since run the upgrade to 5.6.2 on the live site and it's all gone through clean.

Thanks for helping.  You pointed me in a useful direction.

Best wishes,

Hi Richard, glad you were able to solve your upgrade problem, did this fix your original problem as well?

Hi Sebastian,

It fixed this problem (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...) for me.  However - my case may not have been exactly the same as the OP's and it's not my thread to mark fixed.  Thank you for your contribution.

Best wishes,
