you should be able to use mysite.com as default portal alias and redirect should redirect all calls to www.mysite.com

The problem is that we have printed ads where people will be manually typing in a url to reach a specific page and if they forget to type the www they get thrown back to the home page of the site instead of DNN knowing to just add the www for them. This causes major confusion on the part of the user. Again, this was fixed in 6.1.5, but I'm asking if this was fixed in the latest releases of version 5. The client is not willing to move to version 6 as of yet.

Please note that this behavior occurs regardless of the selection for PortalAlias Mapping Mode in the Site Settings. Neither None, Canonical or Redirect produces the desired result of both the www and non-www version ending up at the correct page. Even if an upgrade would not fix this, I would love to know what steps were taken to correct this in the later versions, so that I can apply the same fix.

Ok, I just upgraded to 5.6.8 and am still experiencing this issue. Please advise.

maybe you should work the other way round: use www less domain alias as default.
