@hedera There is another better choice to host DNN, check out DNN4Less.com, you will get what you deserve.

Here are three main reasons I like DNN4Less

  1. Fast
          1. site is always up
          2. load fast
          3. besides free keep alive, I believe their servers are very high end.
  2. Affordable
      1. $6.99/m for 1GB Space
      2. Windows 2008 R2 OS with 2008 SQL database
      3. Free migration
  3. Support
      1. Friendly staff
      2. Always available
      3. They know DNN.
I am hosting my 17 sites with them and I highly recommend DNN4Less. Check them out.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on hosting - we may well move to DNN4Less in September when our current annual contract is up.  Not only have they got the latest and greatest everything, they cost less than we're now paying, for only half a gig less disk space (which we don't need anyhow).

PowerDNN looks very good, but since they don't offer a discount for nonprofits, going with them would double our hosting costs, which I don't think we can afford :(

I've established, though, that my current hosting provider DOES provide ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 (for that matter, they actually have 4.0 installed).  However, the system we're on is still running IIS 6.  Is there any known issue with running DNN 5.6.x on IIS 6 as long as the correct level of ASP.NET is there?

IIS 6 is perfectly fine - the requirements are more about asp.net and ms sql.

asp.net 3.5 sp1
mssql 2005 with latest service pack

Great, thanks - that means if that SQL service pack is in place, I can go ahead with the upgrade.  I appreciate the information very much.
