If a user clicks on their name to view and edit their profile, they have the ability to manage their biography out of the box. I would like to retain this feature, and allow them to upload pictures, etc., but I do not want them to browse the server. Is there some type of integration somewhere that I am unaware of? Is it possible for DNN to generate a root path for each new user that allows them to store and organize files?

Are there extended features like this in the file manager that I'm possibly oblivious to?

I don't recall a user ever having the ability to browse the server when uploading a file. As far as I know, it should upload the file into a specific user folder for that registered user within the portal's root folder. If you are concerned about someone seeing other folders within the portal root directory when using the image or document manager for their signature or something else, you can limit who can view what folders within the Admin -> File Manager menu of your site. Here you can click on specific folders and set the permissions below the folder window. I hope this helps.
