Okay, well I eventually worked out a solution. It might not be the right way to do it, but it works, so for anyone else who wants to use the aside container with their own images here it is.

The default images (the book, credit card, bubble etc) are all in one image file called AsideIcons.png stored in Portals/0/Images folder. This image file is 310 x 60 pixels and the css uses offsets to display a particular portion of the image as a bullet point. So All I did was to download a copy of the file and in Photoshop I placed my own images in place of the existing ones, making sure I put them in the exact same position. Then just uploaded the file again, replacing the original one.

This works fine, but if you want to use the container more than once with different images, you would need to save the image file with a different name and change the html.

Since this thread relates to the issue I am having, I thought I might see if I could join in.  I have DNN 6 installed locally on Windows XP.  I have made a copy of the Dark Knight skin and have renamed it MyTest.  I changed the admin and host settings to use MyTest skin.  However, when I open the 2-Column-Right-Mega-Menu.ascx file and try a test edit  (For example, I commented out the Menu and Search sections of the file and then saved it.) then clear the cache and refresh the page, no changes appear from commenting the section of code out.  Could you tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
David

Hi David,

What comment tag are you using? This seems to work for me:

<%--      <div id="Nav">
              <dnn:MENU MenuStyle="DNNMega" runat="server"></dnn:MENU>
              </div > --%>

Also, make sure you have the right skin applied to your test page. I've made changes to a skin file and updated and not seen changes because I had the wrong skin file applied.

Thanks so much for your reply!  Yes, you were right about the page skin.  I was not editing the right file.  I had checked the host and admin skins being used but I didn't check the page skin.  I appreciate your willingness to help.

I don't know if it is okay to post this question here, but I haven't gotten a reply back yet from the post I sent yesterday so I am going to give it a try....

On my personal PC, I just installed Windows 7.  I installed dotnetnuke 6.0 just fine, everything worked.  However when I open the dotnetnuke installation up in Visual Web Developer Express 2010, it will not let me save the file once I have modified it.  It keeps saying error...access denied.

Do you have any suggestions?

Again, thanks so much!

David

How do I change the background image for the page to something different. I tried thru the admin page, but that didn't work. the image will flash up temporally, but, then goes away.
