Do not delete the old forum! Just install the new version.

Right Team

Thanks for your efforts on this important cause.

I have updated forum to version 5.0.1

However when I go into the first post in the Forum URGENCY I am still getting an error message. see http://www.eaid.org.au/Forum.aspx

So the new Forum did not update and solve the error message in the old forum.

Do you think that I ought to just recreate the Forum with the new version or is there something that might be obviously wrong.

Appreciate if anyone can give any suggestion.

thanks Miles

Well this is forum stability issue is now EXTREMELY DEPRESSING - moreso because of the urgency involved associated with eAid & our efforts in the Horn of Africa crisis.

Sorry to be a bit negative and I really do appreciate all the wonderful work people put in to make DNN etc however I simply cannot get the forum to work - continue getting error mesages.

I am using DNN 5.6.3 & have upgraded Forum to version 5.0.1. This did not recover the old forum nor stop the error message.

So given it was a relatively new forum I deleted it and created a new Forum with the latest version up to date. Still get the same error message (follows) - cant even post. you can view http://moomite.org.dnnmax.com/eaid/Forum.aspx & error comes up when you try to read the first post

********************************

Because of the urgency of the situation - we are trying to co-ordinate a campaign to buy & deliver 250,000 bikes to distribute food aid in East Africa - sounds crazy I know, but how else do you move thousands of tonnes of grain & milk powder to 5 million people - so I need some seriously good advice:

1. Should I persist with the DNN open source forum i.e. are these stability problems able to be solved very quickly i.e can we make it work in 24-48 hours.

2. Or should I go to the Active Forum module - I have shyed away from this because I know that it is an invested time to learn a new forum.

Is Active Forum

a) easy to install
b) easy to configure
c) easy to figure out
d) and above all stable on DNN 5.6.3

I would be so grateful for any help from the Team on this.

Thanks

Miles

Active Forum Light is easy to install and so far a dream to get up and running.  And free.  And will be supported go-forwarded as I understand.

Before you punt, have you at any time in the past modified the User Profile items list; the one with Middle Name and Country and Biography and Preferred Locale that shows up when you "Manage Profile Properties".  It is a known bug that if you delete even one of the items on the default list (like Middle Name), that the DNN Forum bombs.
