thats a very odd error-a quick look suggests that it's a permissions related error particularly associated with xp sp2 (http://www.bing.com/search?q=System.Security.SecurityException%3A+Requested+registry+access+is+not+allowed.&src=IE-SearchBox&FORM=IE8SRC), however you said you're using a windows server so that doesnt look right. Any chance you could arrange remote access and I could have a look at the server as it looks like its not a dotnetnuke issue but rather a windows one.

OK I have now officially spent 3 days at this... read every forum and attempted every suggestion and I am still getting the following error:

Sql login failed

I have done a fresh install on our server 3 times and still NO luck... help!

you can send an email to cathal(at)dnncorp(dot)com -my preference would be for me to set up a gotomeeting and you can grant me access to your screen and keyboard/mouse control (that way you dont have to give me usernames/passwords and can watch what I do)
