I use Windows 7 64-bit, Framework 1/1.1/2/3/3.5/4, SQL Server 2005 SP3 Express.
I put files from clen installation zip archive to IIS folder, install wizard is run, he opened database and after finish, on first run, there is error:

This webpage has a redirect loop.
The webpage at http://localhost/Default.aspx has resulted in too many redirects.
Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

Last screen before that error is to enter admin account and portal title.
As error happens when you go to http://localhost any further, I assume that the installation is complete and the problem is somewhere in the first run of application.

I try with SQL Server 2008 Express - same problem
I try with IIS 7.5 Express instead windows IIS - same problem
I try with Windows XP SP3, IIS 5.1, SQL Server 2005 SP3 Express (in virtual machine) - working!!

Can you tell me what could be a problem?

that would suggest that youre not setting the permissions correctly - windows 2008r2/window7 have different permissions from windows xp - see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/2420/Windows-7-Windows-2008-R2-cross-application-pool-isolation.aspx

I did everything as written (allow ApplicationPoolIdentity user full access to site filder) but did not help.

Interestingly, after auto install everything is working properly but I need custom installation.

For now I will continue to work on IIS 5.1 and you will probably in a next version correct this problem.

I think the problem is in DotNetNuke program, it is not normal that a program can not work after simple instalation wizard (next, next, finish) on default & fresh installed IIS 7.5 or IIS 7.5 Express.

I have found that if you install to inetpub/wwwroot, this error appears and the installation can't proceed. However, if you set up another website and with host header (see this article - http://www.stevenwoolston.com/give-yourself-a-local-domain-name/), then the installation seems to work fine.

Thanks
