Hi,

We are moving all our portals to new servers soon.  Can I change the portal ID that is assigned when I create a new portal?  The reason I want to do this is that I have a lot of forum content on the old site, and I want to just copy the databases to the new site, but everything is tied in with the Portal ID.

Or can I choose a portal ID when creating the portal?

Thanks

No you cant nominate the portalid during portal creation.

You would need to manually run some sql scripts over the forum tables after they were copied to match up the portalid's

HOWEVER - having said this - you would also need to possibly resync the userid's as well unless you are going to directly copy that data across as well.

But having said this - im wondering why you would need to go down this path can you not move the database from your existing server across to the new server - why do you need to create new portals as all ??
