Thanks Lee for the tip on auto-sync (Host Settings > Other Settings for those are looking for it).

Now that the problem has been identified, we need a long term solution and for the DNN team to work that into a future update - sooner rather than later.

I too am suffering with the same issue. Filemanager is taking age to create and browse folders. Another setting to check is if compression is on. Over the years this has shown to severely impact filemanager folders.
