I share in your frustrations and efforts. I can mess with all the RadEditor layouts within the portal default.css - but since this gets overwritten with each patch it's not a real solution.

since CKEditor (dnnckeditor.codeplex.com) stores its configuration in settings table and portal folders, there are no issues with updates. Maybe you should give it a try.

I am taking this path - installing CKEditor - but I'm having a devil of a time configuring it within DNN 6.1.5 to accept my custom CSS.  Whenever I attempt to upload my custom CKEditor.js or editor.css file in the custom editor options of CKEditor, I receive this error:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I've also tried to put the files within the correct portal folder (corresponding to the ones that appear in the
drop down selector) but it does not find the files. I finally moved the files to another website so that I could
use the URL selector but the styles drop down in the editor is blank.

I am following the directions here -
http://dnnckeditor.codeplex.com/wikip... -
but either they don't work with version 6.1.5 or I'm missing a step.
 I'd appreciate any assistance.

With help from the folks at CKEditor, I was able to get the custom styles working!  There were two things that I had to do:  1.  synchronize the files in DotNetNuke admin/host so that my custom files appeared in the editor to select and 2. I had created a unique style set name in the JS file.  It has to have the name "CustomStyles"

same problem in v624 With Darknight skin on he EDIT page (admin setting) The html editor load the skin.
I found the solution copy 3 files popUpSkin.ascx, popUpSkin.CSS AND popUpSkin.doctype.xml FROM DARKNIGHT skin to my skin folder.
I don't know why it work and why it need this 3 files. I'll investigate...
