Hello Gilles,

Went ahead and reran those db scripts:

name                 IsDataFile IsLogFile     size             spaceused     CurrentSizeMB     SafeSizeMB
 dnn_Data         1                 0                 358112         358024             2797.75             2797.06
dnn_Log             0                 1                 128                 49                 1.00                     0.38

same timeout issue we've been experiencing.

thanks,

Dan

Gilles,

I would say that in general you should stay away from using GetUsers in the in the first place, because that will cause in issue with large numbers of users. That is exactly why we are just using a user input box in our permission grids.

I realize that having a dropdown list (or autocomplete for that matter) is a much better UI, but you have to be mindful of the performance issues as well.

As an alternative, you could use a user search option that works of off the search function that is also used by the UserAccounts module  (look at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Users.UserAccounts.BindData (from line 352 in Users.ascx.cs in /desktopmodules/admin/security). The different search options should minimize performance hits

Hi Erik,

I have already started to work on a workaround by selecting first a role, then get the users list from the selected role. This should avoid such kind of problem.

I will look at the code to use similar feature to search orders by user name, thanks !

Gilles

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Thanks for working on this Gilles. I was going to drop you an email so you could let me know when you had the new version ready. Which email works best?

thanks,

Dan
