Hello fellow nukers,

After uploading the upgrade pkg and running the (install.asp?mode=upgrade), my site began installing all req. content except for the telerik controls.

I recieved this message on the install page : Installing Package File Telerik_06.01.03_Install:  Error!

Now my site is completely broken, I just get an error page. Can anybody help me out? I've backed up everything but dont want to downgrade if I dont have to. Is there a way to manually install the telerik controls? should i restart the whole upgrade process again?

are you able to restart install by browsing to /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources

Hi Sebastian,

 I had tried a few re-installs but not only for the resources. In the end I was getting just a blank page with nothing written on it. I've performed mutliple updates without a hitch, I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong here.

I've currently restored my db and site from a back up I made. Are there any known issues with the telerik controls not updating as intended?

Unfortunately, this is an install issue that happens from time to time either because of insufficient file system permissions, a read-only attribute set on web.config, or a possilbe race condition or file-locking condition that has been difficult to track down and correct. Assuming that file system permissions were correct for your site's root folder most likely it was the later cause although I'm surprised it occurred on multiple upgrade attempts.

In most cases if no other errors were seen during the upgrade  you can recover from the unhandled application error by:

1. Checking that the file version of Telerik.Web.UI.dll in the site's /bin folder matches that contained in the Telerik installation zip package found in the downloaded upgrade package's Install/Module folder. For DNN 6.1.4 upgrade the package is Telerik_06.01.03_Install.zip and the Telerik.Web.UI.dll file version should be 2011.3.1115.35. If it is an earlier version you can manually extract the dll files from the zip package and place it in the /bin folder.

2. Check that the binding redirect for the Telerik.Web.UI assembly correctly references this file version (2011.3.1115.35) in web.config. In DNN 6.1.4 this should be:

<bindingRedirect oldVersion="2008.0.0.0-2020.0.0.0" newVersion="2011.3.1115.35" />

Hi Will,

 

I've tried to upgrade to the latest update and am still getting stuck at the telerik control install.

 

Where is the latest telerik control package and how can I manually install it. I'm not a very strong programmer,.......step by step help would be much MUCH appreciated.

I'm assuming that I would have to modify the webconfig as per your reply.... what would be the new values for telerik?
