I am not sure why you guys are referring to the database. I am on the first page of the installer. I am not doing the webmatrix as all I am doing is the InstallWizard. I am on the first page still never clicked "next". So this has nothing to do with the database.....

As I said previously, all the correct permissions have been given to the website folder "c:\dnn" and those users that need modify permissions have it. Even the default app pool name. I still cannot get the product to display correctly.

Please stop referencing the database as I am not setting that up at this time. I just want the product to run correctly before I finish the install. If out of the box it doesn't display correctly when I have setup IIS according to your install document, then either there is something wrong with your product or the documentation is incorrect for 2008R2 and IIS7.5 or I misses a step. Which is why I started this thread. Following the documentation didn't work so something is wrong.

According to the documentation if I use SQL Express 2008R2 I do not need to edit the web.config, it should just work. But again, it doesn't work and I am not even at the database install part yet.

It's hard to say without seeing the error, so we're taking a shot in the dark. Please be patient while we do our best to assist.

In IIS, select anonymous authentication and make sure everything else is disabled, restart IIS and load the first page of the install wizard and let us know how it goes.

If you run the Browser on the Windows 2008R2 Server be aware that the Browser have enhanced Security. Disable the Security is needed to run websites correctly, but I suggest this only for the Server Administrator.

Make sure javascript is enabled on the browser.

There was no error, just the formatting of the page was the concern. I have fixed it by installing IIS features, serverside includes and cgi. And guess what, the page formatting came back and all look good now. Nowhere does it say in the install manual what is required in IIS.

Usually, serverside includes and cgi is not required for DNN - but maybe the install of it applied some other settings, allowing DNN to install properly.
