Ok, i have a challenge of the day.

I have a situation where a pre-existing site is DNN 4.9.X (yes i know... its old upgrade is coming) But here is the issue i need to do this kind of quickly.

All i need is to create a redirect to an extension-less URL and have that page be a DNN page.

For example www.mydomain.com/employees/mynames.aspx needs to read or redirect to a page that

reads www.mydomain.com/employees     which will bring up a dnn page that an admin can make changes on.

NOTE: Can This Be Done WITHOUT having to budget for $120 dollar module. Can this be done through the web.config or some kind of work-a-round?

Also we do not want the entire site to function on extension-less url's but just  one PAGE.

It looks like neither DNN 4.9.X nor DNN 5.6.X will permit this. I'm looking for a way to make this happen only with certain pages redirecting to an extension-less url which can be a dnn page.

Please advise.
Thanks

Reginald,

Here is a potential solution, but it would only work if they can start at the extension-less page and be redirected to the page with extension.

You could use a URL shortening module. The one I've been playing with specifically is the URLshorty module (free). It allows you to setup custom URLs. With this you could do something like this:

mydomain.com/employees > redirect to mydomain.com/employees/mynames.aspx

I don't see a way to make this work the other way around (start at extension and go to no extension).

Here is the link to the module if you'd like to try it out: http://dnnurlshorty.codeplex.com/

Thanks for the reply, I will keep your suggestion handy.

However, I'm really needing to redirect to an extension-less page such as from www.mydomain.com/employees/mynames.aspx   to   mydomain.com/employees

I did not realize this would be such a task for DotNetNuke alone. Still looking for a work-a-round or perhaps some edits to web config to create just 1 extension-less url redirect...
