I have the same problem with the 4.0.2 :

Compiler Error Message: BC30451: Name 'Config' is not declared.

Source Error:

Line 77:
Line 78: Dim AutoUpgrade As Boolean
Line 79: If Config.GetSetting("AutoUpgrade") Is Nothing Then
Line 80: AutoUpgrade = True
Line 81: Else

Source File: E:\web\jullianorg0\htdocs\dnn\App_Code\Global.asax.vb    Line: 79

Maybe there is something that got screwed up with my hosting account.

Does anybody know how to solve this ?

Thanks in advance.

Olivier.

Ok I found the problem with the 4.0.2, it was my mistake : I uploaded an already, locally installed version, instead of the "install" package.

As for the 4.3.3 earlier attempt, I haven't done this mistake : I have used the "install" package.

The issue might be related to the way the DNN framework detects whether or not it has already been configured. Does anyone know how this works ?

Maybe the 4.3.3 "install" package contains something that tells the DNN framework that it is already installed...

Thanks for your help.

Olivier.

Looking for solution to same error message as originally posted on this thread.

points i'd like to make.

  1. have adopted the upgrade path using the package - DotNetNuke_4.3.4_Upgrade.zip
  2. have followed the steps to the "T" locally and upgrade went without a hitch (using release.config as the base)
  3. connection strings etc all ok, not using object qualifiers, using default keys
  4. tried the same online, and got the " If Config.GetSetting("AutoUpgrade") Is Nothing Then...." errors

feel free to see online:- http://www.gooeehq.com/

have tried:

re-ftping the contents of the upgrade zip, tried reading all the forums here & at asp.net... but still no luck. desparately in need of a pointer? could it be our host and some new permission or trust issues?

many thanks all for your efforts thus far.

I'm having the exact same issue, however, it's with a clean install on a server that I have full control over running Win2k3 server std ed sp1 with SQL2k sp3 and ASP.NET 2.0.50727

Any thoughts?

If you have all the same error as xyboy (including the line 79) this may help:
