besides using ckeditor, you might modify vw:_tabs view in the database to exclude brackets and paranthesis.

I never did figure out what caused this, but it appears to have been bad data. To fix it, I ended up deleting everything from the Folders and Files tables for this portal and ran a recursive synchronization from the File Manager. WARNING TO READERS: This will kill any links that you have that utilize the UniqueId in the Files table ( the LinkClick.aspx page, I think - we don't use it ). I would suggest copying that data to another table for restoring later if you use that functionality.

I've had the same problem also in 6.1.5. I've seen it on 2 or 3 sites already. There are cases when the file manager shows up blank and an other HTML module shows right on the same page. Strange issue...

We are having the same problem on one of our sites.  The site is on 6.1.1.  Did anyone figure out the problem?
