Hello,

I use DNN6. I read a few articles before i write the topic:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

Still, i have a few questions:

1) Should I create a portal before importing a portal? Or should i have only the _defalt (0) portal when i'm importing the new portal?

2) Is the portal number important? On my localhost i have portal 3, when i'm exporting and in internet website i might have portal 2?

3) I have Enabled Localized Content on the portal i'm going to export. Is this a problem for importing it? Should it add the localized content too?

4) Can you please send me some other useful links on articles

Thanks!

Hi Dimitar,
1. you should be able to use the template for either creating the initial portal (put template file inside /portals/_default folder) or an additional one
2. Portal number should not be relevant - however some 3rd party modules might rely on it
3. Make sure to use latest version of DNN and not use any modules displayed on all pages. You need to enable content localization in Host settings first. There might be some unexpected effects, AFAIK templates with content localization has not been used and tested very well.

Sebastian,
Thanks for the fast reply.

1. So, i create the portal 2, Enable portal localization, copy template files into "..Portals/2" folder, and than add the template to this initial portal (2), right?
2. I have only html and feedback modules at the moment.

3.1. Is it a problem if i use DNN 06.00.02 (72)? I don't want to change versions at the moment, if it's not absolutely necessary. Let me know.
3.2. Yes, i have 1 module (in the Footer), which is displayed on all pages. What will happen to it? Should i disable it before exporting the template portal?
3.3. Yes, I enabled the content localization in Host settings first; second i enabled content localization for the default portal. What is AFAIK templates? What unexpected behaviour i can expect?

Dimitar,
1. you should create portal 2 based on the template, this should enable content localization as well (sorry, I haven't tested this).
2. both modules should work fine
3.1. I strongly suggest upgrading to 6.2.1, which should be available later this week due to a huge number of issues fixed - including a few related to content localization
3.2 In DNN 6.0/6.1 a module shown on all pages will get added multiple times to each page. According to the issue tracker, this should be fixed in DNN 6.2.1 or 6.2.2
3.3. AFAIK means "as far as I know". Due to the situation that I myself stay away from using content localization in production, I can only tell from test installs and other users experiences, reported in these forums.

Sebastian,
1. Please, tell me the correct steps of importing the portal. The quotes "create portal 2 based on the template" and "use the template for creating initial portal" are confusing for me (sorry). Please, put it simply, for example: A) create portal 2 (go to host and add a portal); B) copy template file into folder Portal/2; C) go to host and click import portal etc..
I don't want to mess up with this

3.1. I'll do the upgrade when it's available.
3.2. So, if it adds multiple times on each page, is it OK to delete not needed modules?
