Hello!

I am new to DNN and just adopted a site that uses DNN.

Apparently someone recently upgraded DNN. I have no idea what version it used to be or currently is.

Problem:

All log in forms are missing. http://bcfo.org/default.aspx?ctl=login

Can anyone tell me how to find the version of DNN that this is running? If anyone could point me in the right direction for solving this issue that would be great.

Thank you all!

very odd, you should not be able to have a login page without a login control - i can only theorize that a page was added and a login control was added, this was then set via admin->site settings, and then the login control was removed. You should be able to fix this by editing the PortalLocalization table and setting the logintabid to null - which will fall back to the default login control.

As for the version, if you have file/ftp access, go to the BIN folder and find dotnetnuke.dll and right click it and you will be able to see the version in details (or else check the Version table in the database)

Thanks cathal connolly. I really appreciate the input.

I found the version number it is 5.0.1.189

I went to check the database as you mentioned, however I do not see a table named, "PortalLocalization". I did however find a table named, "Portals" which contained a column called "LoginTabId". Unfortunately this record is already set to "NULL".

Anything else you would suggest checking?

Again, thank you!

ah, thats a very old version so portals is the right table. Im not sure what it could be then as there could be issues I cant recall from 5.0 as it's 3 years old - i'd recommend looking into the EventLog table (order by date) to see if any exception is being logged.

Thank you again!

I checked the logs and found the last place where a user was able to login. Since then the LogTypeKey has included the following errors:

PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION

SCHEDULER_EVENT_FAILURE

MODULE_LOAD_EXCEPTION

SCHEDULER_EXCEPTION

GENERAL_EXCEPTION

I noted that one of the common PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTIONs was for the address: /SHOP/MyAccount/tabid/75/ctl/Edit/mid/402/Default.aspx which seems to be the closest thing to an indication to a problem with the login system.

I guess my question now is, are any of these indicative of the problem I am having? Does the PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION seem to be what I should focus my attention to?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
