I am having the same issue... but in my case I can actually see my local DNN site when visiting http://dnndev (it's also, obviously, visible at http://localhost) in my browser.

This must be an IIS error but I have tried uninstalling IIS and adding it back, along with a fresh DNN install and still no luck. I can't figure out what I'm missing??

Have you set up permissions on the folder DNN is installed in?

Right click from Windows Explorer and use the Security tab to add permissions for the Application Pool user and IUSR?

You say you can 'see' the site from http://dnndev - are you getting a site with no images or css, and unable to run installation? You need to check the box to allow static html and images in IIS Setup if that is the case.

Hi Bill,

"IIS_IUSRS" and "NETWORK SERVICE" both have "full control" permsission set in the security tab for my DNN directory (C:/intepub/wwwroot/dnndev).

Also at either http://localhost and http://dnndev I see a full version of my DNN install. images, links, stylesheets all working just fine.

And I am running Visual Studio 2008 (under Windows 7 Ultimate) as an administrator as well.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Donovan

Donovan,

Can you check permissions on IUSR? Thats the account that is now used for anonymous access. The IIS_IUSRS is the new Machine Account - the group account for application pools.

One other thing that may make the difference is to deliberately add web config file to the project, and then delete everything except

<configuration>
 <system web>
  <compilation debug=true>
 </system web>
<configuration>
