BTW, on my server the account is IIS_IUSRS, not IIS_IUser. Is that a problem?

Thanks.

Well since W2k8 it is IIS_IUsers that need read permissions, and your network service must have create, execute, change, read permissions.  Be sure you inherit the permissions to all subfolders and files!

No luck, I'm afraid. I tried adding these permissions but still receive the same error. The nature of the error hints (to me, at least) that this is something to do with the structure/tags of the file itself, rather than a permissions issue.

Thanks.

Hi mark, you can tyr with the APPPool\yourwebsite user as said in the wiki :
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...
For Windows 7 or Windows 2008R2 running IIS 7.5 you'll need to add the application pool ie; "IIS AppPool\{AppPoolName}" (without the quotes). The application pool should be given modify permissions. The application pool should be given modify permissions

Thank you, Julien. I'm getting a tad confused by this and hope you can point me in the right direction. On this IIS 7.5 server I had previously changed the application pool identity to NETWORK SERVICE. I have no particular need to use that identity beyond it was the only way I could get it work :)

My other app pools are set to ApplicationPoolIdentity. Sure enough, if I go into Advanced Settings I can change the identity to ApplicationPoolIdentity (it shows up in the drop down). However, when I go to the file system and try to set permissions for that identity it is not recognized (I copied/pasted from the IIS Manager to make sure I had no typos). I tried ApplicationPoolIdentity on it's own and also IIS AppPool\ApplicationPoolIdentity but it never recognizes this identity. It DOES recognize IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool.

Should I / could I use that account? I am curious to know why ApplicationPoolIdentity isn't showing up though.

Thanks.

Mark
