Several websites on the internet have linked to our old company website, using an URL like: www.domain.com/subsection.

We have build an entirely new website however, using DotNetNuke.
The subsection as mentioned doesn't exist anymore. Therefore we want to redirect this URL to an existing URL within our new website.

This should've been no problem when the old URL was www.domain.com/subsection.aspx.
I could add a RewriterRule, which redirected futurama.aspx to the main domain.

However, redirection should take place on the URL withóut the .aspx extension. How can I manage this?!
Preferable without the use of 3rd-party extensions, let alone payed ones...

Many thanks in advance!

HI Joost

I do not think there are any free URL rewriters. I may be wrong but suspect that if there where they would be very popular and well linked in the DNNverse.

The iFinity system is not that expensive and can also handle all your 301rediercts from the old URL's to the new very elegantly.
Updates are generally free and always come very quickly after any impacting DNN version increase.
The cost assures you that there will be updates.

URL rewriting is not trivial which may explain the lack of any free offerings.

You can run IIS7 with wildcard script mapping which would work for your case if all your redirects were top level pages. Otherwise you are either looking at writing serious regex code for the DNN Friendly URL provider, or buying the iFInity module. I suggest buying the module quite frankly, as it does everything you'll need and more, and is well supported.
