Yes, it works!  I just tried this, and it seems you don't even have to put the <dnn: controlpanel... into the skin. All you have to do is register the controlpanel.

This is good to know. Thanks for checking this out for us.

Accepted Answer 

Spoke too soon. You do need to add the

<dnn:CONTROLPANEL runat="server" id="cp" IsDockable="True" />

Otherwise, if you use it in admin or host mode, it will not perform properly.

Just put that near the top. I put mine in a <div>

Sweet. After half a day messing around with an issue I had with the AS modules as well!
