Mike,

I'm in and out of the site as host that it's possibly a cookie issue but I had another user test on Friday and it didn't work for him. At this point I have to assume it's random and the only reason I see it is due to the fact that I'm developing the site and usually the only person viewing it.

I'll change the permissions for the entire site back to what they were.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm open to anything at this point since this is the only thing holding up me from launching my new intranet.

One thing I thought about is redirecting to windows sign in.asp if I don't detect the users network ID. Short term that would work but I don't know how I'd be able to login as host if needed.

Thanks for your time.

Mark

More info in case it helps.

I haven't checked the site in about 2 days. Logged in to my PC, cleared my cache and cookies, hit the site and it worked. Great! Then I clicked a link to go to a child portal to check something, came back to the home page and I'm no longer authenticated. I did NOT visit or log in to any other local DNN site.

I manually navigated to the windowssignin page, came back and was logged in. Checked a different child portal, came back to the root home page an the same thing - I was no longer logged in.

What's happening here? Am I losing my credentials when I go to a child portal? Well, I guess that part is obvious but would you happen to know why?

Thanks,
Mark

Does your child portal have the AD provider on it as well? I'll have to try to do some testing to see if I can duplicate what you're experiencing.

Mike,

No, I only installed it on the parent since I thought it would work on the entire site. I'll add it to a child portal and test and let you know what I find.

Thanks,
Mark

Don't unless you intend to have the child use the provider as well. I was just trying to sort out what I need to do to recreate the problem.
