The server hosting all of my websites has crashed.  The hard drives began failing slowly over a period of a month, resulting in the corruption of all of my portal files (including web.config) and even my backup files.  Then my data hosting company mishandled the damaged drives and formatted them--addnig insult to injury.  The end result is that after spending hundreds of dollars I was only able to recover the SQL database files.

Is there a procedure for rebuilding my websites with only the database file?  The database files contain over a thousand pages representing hundreds of hours of work by clients.  Please advise if you have ideas...

ok, I will tr from memory:

First check the database for the highest DNN version number and modules installed.

Second install the same DNN version with a new database (be sure, you have the same object qualifier to preceed any table and sproc as in the old one, if there has been any) and the same list of modules. Create the same number and type of portals in the same order (see previous portals table)

Third get from the files table in the old database all installed files. Rebuild the file structure as it has been before the crash.

Fourth save the database and put a restore of the old one in place. You will not be able to login due to changed encryption keys.

Fifth register as a new user (if necessary set registration mode in portal settings to value 2) and go directly into the database, in table aspnet_membership copy the password and password salt from new user to host user. You shall now be able to login and reset passwords for other users.

HTH

Okay, there was a xml file called "siturls.config" of size 0kb in the root directory.  I copied this same file from another portal and fixed the issue.

I have not been able to login as host after following step #5.  Is there anything else I should do?
