Hello, all...I'm having tremendous problems using TFS (Team Foundation Server).I got the connection to the remote server to work, but I can't figure out to save my life how to use TFS to store changes to existing projects. I've downloaded some info from MSFT which is pretty good about adding new projects, but no help for updating existing ones.As an aside, I'm using both TORTOISESVN (on my personal C:\ drive) and TFS (remotely), for the practice. I've got a pretty good handle on TORTOISESVN, but I have not found TFS to be intuitive at all. I am so tired of rewriting the contents of my C:\ drive with (accidentally) downloaded TFS programs. Thank goodness I have TORTOISESVN to rewrite things on my hard drive when this happens.Does anybody have a "short and easy" TFS tutorial that they can give me a link to (or ship me a copy of) ???THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.Jeff

Ok, I just re-watched the video.

Here's what I gleaned from it this time:

1. In order to use TFS correctly, each cycle of changes (each video, basically) must start with me CHECKING OUT the code from TFS and downloading it to my C:\ drive. IS THIS CORRECT ??? If this is correct, I can then see how to use TFS, since the CHECKING OUT (FOR EDIT) and CHECKING (BACK) IN would then flow in a natural manner.

2. The above being probably true, I now have to figure out how to get my TORTOISESVN (current C:\ ) code and the TFS code in sync, as the TFS code is 3-4 lessons behind the current disk code (since I haven't been able to get TFS to work (according to my understanding)).

A. One option that appears to me is to bascially create a brand new project within TFS
called (for instance) TASKMANAGER_2, populate it with the latest from my hard disk,
and go forward with it from this point.

It looks to me like I can fly with TFS from this point; I'll let you know if otherwise.

THANKS for your help, Chris !!!

Jeff

Hey, Chris, looks like I'm good to go...I've got TFS set up now with the latest release of TASKMANAGER CHECKED OUT and LOCKED to my C:\ drive. I couldn't see any changes that it effected in DESKTOPMODULES \ TASKMANAGER , but I suppose as long as there's no difference in the code between the two places the locks would only be "logical" locks. When I list TASKMANAGER in TFS, all the modules do show as being CHECKED OUT and LOCKED.It is a little confusing that only the "changed" modules update the "Last Checked In Date", but I'll have to get used to that.TFS now becomes my main "store", and TORTOISESVN falls down to being # 2 (but a very important # 2).So like I say, I think I'm good to go.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.Jeff
