Environment: Windows 2008R2 Standard | IIS 7.5 | DNN Community 6.02.04 | SQL 2012 Express

Can someone please point me to a proper installation guide for this configuration? I have paged through SO many documents on dotnetnuke.com as well as links to youtube videos and not one of them show everything needed to complete the installation. What do I need to configure in SQL to detect it for "auto" installation? Each time I have tried to run the installation "auto" is disabled and I am not able to connect on the following screens to the database.

I have also tried the "User Install Using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer" to no avail. I seemed to get closer with that one time, it recognized that SQL was installed but was unable to connect with SA (as it was not enabled whe I setup SQL).

I am missing something in the setup and would like to see if there is a more intuitive guide that I can follow. This can't be as difficult as I am making it!

Thank you for any suggestions!

I think there are more videos on this subject on YouTube than documents, But where is your issue? This is what I do

  1. Create a folder on your Server and add Network Services to the folder
  2. Create an empty DB in SQL Server and remember the name and server name for the connection string
  3. create a site in IIS and point it to the folder, Check your Application Pool  / Advanced settings/ Process Model /Identity and go to to give it Network Services Identity
  4. drop the content of the latest dnn install zip file in there

I may have missed some details above but the rest is like running any other .net application - once you hit the URL or run the default.aspx the rest is taken care off by the wizard

I was missing the "build the database" and "assign a user" rights to it. I have been dealing with PHP/MySQL for so long (in Dragonfly and Joomla) and this is done during the installation that I just wasn't putting all the pieces together. Thank you very much for the follow up Salar, I am not installed and playing around with DNN. Thank you again

I am glad could help

In my experience doing this manually in MySQL PHP joomla can be easier if one has a virtual server and plesk running used to take me under 60sec- but DNN used to be a lot harder in the past, but with DNN 6 install Wizard things has got lot easier with most of the issues have been simplified. Upgrades are also dead easy now so long one does regular upgrades.
