I created a VM clone of my web server and made it a local box so I could destroy if I need to.

I downloaded the zip, installed over top of my app. Started the site.  I got the login page.  Logged in as admin, and clicked "Upgrade Now".

I was greeted with:

Dot Net Nuke Error

An unhandled exception occurred and a link to "return to site".

What happened? How can I tell? Do I have to go to v5 before I can make the jump to v6?  I noticed in my environment, the site was using .net 2.0, and I tried setting it to 4.0, but the error remains.

Ideas?  I didn't think it would be difficult to do....

There is a suggested upgrade path on the wiki - and yes you do need to go through the intermediate v4 and v5 upgrades to get to v6.

Changes in the database and core modules which were made in these upgrade versions are incremental, you cannot get a full successful upgrade without going through those intermediate upgrades. You also need to resolve any reported errors after each step before you move on to the next upgrade.
