Thank you all for the quick responses!

It looks like choosing GoDaddy as a host for my DNN website was a bad idea. I am going to sign up elsewhere, perhaps with PowerDNN.

In the meantime, until I get my DNN website up and running, is there any possible way I can convert the DNN files given to me into a static html web page? I just need something up temporarily for a few months until I get the DNN site up and running.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks again!

As you have experienced, the Community is very helpful... (just another reason why DotNetNuke rocks)!

Regarding "converting" your DNN pages to static HTML pages... I'm not aware of any tools that could automatically do this. If you would like to get this done though the best route may be to install your DotNetNuke instance locally (you'd have to have SQL Server or SQL Server Express + IIS installed on your computer)  so that you could re-create the site locally.  Once you see it, then you'd have to code the static HTML pages so that they looked like your DNN site. Honestly, that's a lot of work just to give them a temporary site.

Another option is to give the users a 1-page customized message until you get your site up via the AppOffline page. This way you could customize the AppOffline file and spend your time working on your DNN site vs working on the "bridging-the-gap" site. Once you start working with a DNN  specific hosting provider it shouldn't take you too long to get your DNN site up and running.

Keep in mind that if your site had users that were able to login and post content who may be accustomed to interacting on the site, the new static site you're thinking of creating would remove all the interaction and not provide a good experience for them.

DNN Noob:

I just moved- rather rebuilt a site that was on go Daddy - under a 5 year deal and after 10 months was able to shut down the go Daddy site after rebuilding it on Arvixe.com for half the price and 10 times the support! You can only move the files from goDaddy if you created the database with the idea a third party program like MS Sql Server Mgmnt Studio was how you will manage the site. If you did not choose this option, you will not be able to move or migrate the site very well.

Your best bet is to build on a hosted that supports DNN 6 or 7 like Arvixe if on an economy plan or if you need a robust host plan then Power DNN.

Goodluck welcome to DNN!

I have used GoDaddy for many years without any problem and still do.  I have installed into the root folder and four portals.  Also I know that GoDaddy will refund any unused money if you terminate your plan.

Thanks,
Greg Hart

Sure, if you want to spend your time exchanging support tickets instead of building your website.

GoDaddy is NOT for DNN, period. It is the WORST choice someone can make.
