We have several DNN installations running on our Windows 2008 R2 server, IIS 7.5, MSSQL 2008 configuration.   We have one 5.x, and the rest are 6.x.  Is there any reason i should expect that adding a DNN 7 instance on this server should cause us any problems?  I tried to adde one about a month ago and ran into some trouble and instead of spending alot of time on it, went ahead and went with a DNN 6.2 installation.  I dont remember the exact error i was getting but as best i can remember it had to do with some compiled dlls in the asp.net temp folder.

We have a new install we really want to use DNN 7 on, so i guess we want to know 1) they can both live on the same server and 2) are there any tricks to make the 2 co-exist?

Thanks

Brian

Brian,

it should be no problem, but I would use a separate AppPool and a separate database.

What can lead to problems is not enough resources (esp. RAM) on the server.

Best wishes
Michael

I run a 6.2.5 and 7.0 on the same server with no issues.

Thanks so much for answering.  That is very promising, as you can imagine there are plans on moving each of our existing < 7 installations to 7 at some point.

Brian, I run 5.6.8 and 7.0.0 on the same server. Like Michael T said, just make sure you use different AppPools.
