Hi,

I am new to the world of DNN...

I have DNN 7 running at my University's server (full access to it). I created one portal complete with IIS host header and such. There will be many more portals come in the future.  Each portal will have its own administrator managing skins, etc.  It is imperative for me to keep the list of skins separated from each other (portal-wise). I know it's possible, but why am I not seeing the Skin installation option when logged in as the administrator for that particular portal (not superuser).  I go to Extensions, expand the Skins area, but there are no place to install a skin for this portal only.  I can install skins fine from the Host menu, but then it becomes available for all portals, and I don't want that.

Please advice.

Thanks,

Shan.

Basically you install a skin under the Admin Extensions page just like you would under the Host Extensions page, using the INSTALL EXTENSION WIZARD option. Doing that from the Admin/Extensions page makes a skin Portal specific, doing it from the Host/Extensions page makes it available to all portals.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply.  I have been watching your videos.

I tried to do exactly what you had mentioned, but there's no option to upload the files. It's as if the user I am logged in under does not have enough privilege.

As superuser I can install skins for the entire host.  But when I am logged in as the portal administrator, there's no extension installation wizard.  That's why I am stuck.

Thanks.

Administrators cannot upload skins, only super users (hosts) can. So login as the Host and go to the Admin/Extensions page. Then you should have the option.
