I have uploaded a DNN 7 site from my local PC to a host server. All was working as it should on my PC, but ow I'm getting an error on line 298; it appears the the PortalSettings object is null.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Default.aspx.cs:line 298

Can anyone shed any light on this error?

Many thanks

Steve

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have tried so many alternatives now, my head is spinning.

What would cause a website running on a local server to fail when it is moved to an external host? I've looked extensively at the PortalAlias, but that doesn't appear to be an issue.

Any help will be much appreciated - in fact I'll mention you in my will.

Steve

Steve,

My advice is to never try to upload a test/dev website. You should rebuild it in production. It sounds painfully long but it works better.

Roll back your changes on production and build it from your test version.
