Hi,

I'm going to have the same code base running on different portals. Each portal will be a unique site running the same code base but will require different values for the SAME web.config entry.

For example, portal 1 will need a config entry such as "CustomWebConfigEntry = portal1" and portal 2 will need "CustomWebConfigEntry = portal2".

What the best way to approach this type of situation.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Are you saying about creation of different portal in same dotnetnuke site or I misunderstood you ? If you are creating the child portal, then you can easily do so by going to Host -> Site Management -> Add New Site

Thanks,
Avinash Kumar

Jabrazil,

is it really necessary that you have this value in the web.config? You can for instance use the module settings for this...

Best wishes
Michael

Being new to DNN I'm looking for the best approach to this problem.

Module settings makes a lot of sense, for module specific configuration but what about app specific information. For example, I want to switch databases connection strings (not dnns but my own) for each portal. Module settings does not seem like a good fit for this problem.

Thanks,
Jim
