This has been answered previously but now when I search using google for "awesome cycles rotating banner" the first link that is shown has the title of this post "Rotating Banner in DNN7 default site - where is the script? - Do" but when you click on the link I receive "A critical error has occurred. An unexpected error has occurred".

This appears to be a troublesome problem that a lot of newbies have as the awesome cycle site has changed in DNN 7.

PROBLEM

I have unfortunately removed the "Featured Product: WP 2G Downhill" html from the awesome cycles home page and now my banners will not work. I know that the link that is now broken above mentioned some script being run from "Featured Product: WP 2G Downhill" that basically called $("#slides").slides() but I cannot get to this script. My solution is to use the WillStrohl.Injection_01.02.00_Install module and place the necessary javascript at the bottom of the page and then remove "Featured Product: WP 2G Downhill" once and for all. Could someone either try to fix the "critical error" on the forum or kindly tell me the javascript that I need. At the moment using WillStrohl.Injection_01.02.00_Install with the script

<script>
$(function () {
$('#slides').slides({
preload: true,
preloadImage: 'images/loading.gif',
play: 5000,
pause: 2500,
hoverPause: true
});
});
</script>

 I get an error saying that no function 'slides' on object exists

It may be easier just to use a special module for that, such as this one: https://dnncontentslider.codeplex.com/

Many thanks Erik. I am sure like many others I had wasted a lot of time on that issue. Unfortunately rolling content catches the eye of people who say "can you change that to do X?" so when you attempt to do this to show the virtues of DNN as a newbie and it breaks it does not bode well. I know DNN offers many things so maybe the Awesome Cycles template needs to be changed so that this cannot be broken so easily. If you search you will a number of people complaining about the same thing.

Hmm, i don't quite get what you mean. Of course it is easy, but you need to understand jQuery and CSS. Which is not easy at all for a lot of people. The module i pointed to allows you to do a similar thing without knowing anything about jQuery and CSS. There are also a lot of modules available on the store that can do similar things.

The strength of the platform is that it enables you to do what you want.

Keep in mind that the default site you see when installing DNN is nothing more than a sample
