I cannot for the life of me get any sort of user roles code to work. It is a complete mystery to me as to why the code will not return values.

Dim mUser As DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserInfo = DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserController.GetCurrentUserInfo()
Dim userRoles As New DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController
Dim showroles As String = "Show Roles: <BR />"

For Each i As String In userRoles.GetRolesByUser(UserInfo.UserID, Me.PortalId)
            showroles += i.ToString() & ","
  Next

Response.Write(showroles)

I thought for sure this would work. but it does not. So then I tried:

<%
if DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserController.GetCurrentUserInfo().IsInRole("Online Journal Access") then

Response.Write("Correct Group")

End if
%>

None of the checks for which group the user is is works. Can someone please share the way to work this.

DNN 4.9 - I know it is old
