Hi,

It's kind of annoying.
The text color and the background are both red. I have tried to check the default.css and found the following code:

    .dnnFormItem span.dnnFormMessage.dnnFormError{
        display:block;
        position:absolute;
        overflow:visible;
        /*top:-95%; right: 12%;*/
        bottom: 95%;right: 12%;
        width:200px;
        margin-bottom:0;
        padding:10px;
        border:none;
        border-radius:3px;
        background:rgba(255,0,0,0.75);
        font-size:12px;
        color:#fff;
        text-align:left;
    }

I think the color should be white. However, something rewrites the code to become the following:

<span id="dnn_ctr960_ManageUsers_User_ComparePasswordsValidator" class="dnnFormMessage dnnFormError" style="color: red; display: inline;">The Password and Confirmation Password must match</span>

How can I resolve it?

Thank you very much.

It Looks as the color is hardcoded with the style Attribute. Not sure yet if this is a core issue. Dit this happend also with a other Skin ?

Hi Mathias,

Thanks for your promptly reply.

Yup, I have tried other skins and the style settings are still there.

I have also looked into the user.ascx and found the folloing code untouched:

<asp:CompareValidator ID="ComparePasswordsValidator" runat="server"
                                  resourcekey = "ComparePasswordsValidator.ErrorMessage"
                                  CssClass="dnnFormMessage dnnFormError"
                                  Display="Dynamic"
                                  ControlToValidate="txtPassword"
                                  ControlToCompare="txtConfirm"></asp:CompareValidator>

Just cannot figure out where the style settings came out.

Its always a little bit ugly  but quickest way is to force it to override with a !important declaration in your own skin css.

 .dnnFormItem span.dnnFormMessage.dnnFormError
{

color: white !important;
}

Least thats how we got around it - there is something in the core code that physically adds  style="color: red;" to the span tag that controls the placement of the error mesage.

Hi Westa,

That's an in-time solution. I appreciate that.

Since DNN is an open source project, I think there is nothing left behind the "core code". I am on 7.0.6 and would like to find out what would have produced that style.
