Hello

Have been developing a site for quite a while with DNN and just decided to add a portal to demo something to someone else. I created a subdomain with my hosts, pointed it to the root of the current (only) portal, added a portal from the host menu of the current site, saved everything ... and now the new portal works fine, but the original gives an Error 500 Internal Server Error!

The 2 portals look ok in the portalalias table, all the files I'm used to seeing in the root directory look ok ... can anyone suggest where to look to track this down?

Thanks

Its likely to be a skinobject issue - do you have any custom skin objects on the sites.

No, sadly I don't. I have NBStore and an Imagerotator module installed, otherwise it's a standard DarkKnight skin just developed from the AwesomeCycles template.

Thank you for replying - this is driving me mad!

Well it's now 6 hours since I created the new portal and everything collapsed, and I just received an email message from the "pingdom" keepalive service I use, to say that my original site is "UP".

I just browsed to it, and praise be to everything out there, it's back! Both portals work exactly as expected, and I have done *nothing* of any significance apart from poke around, tear my hair out and curse loudly and vigorously.

Sometimes you have to wonder exactly what is going on ... maybe recycling the application pool? But I actually upgraded from 7.0 to 7.1 in the midst of all this anarchy, desperately clutching at any straws I could find. It upgraded the only site that was working, the "critical update" message vanished, and the original Portal 0 still failed to work for the last hour at least. Surely the app pool got recycled in the middle of all that?

Anyway, I'm not going to worry any more. Thank you to all those who at least read my message and spared me a thought.

Just reading your post. It might be interesting to check the log4net logs for the site during this... they should be located in the /Portals/_default/logs folder.
