Hi at all,

I have a big problem for a fresh install of DNN 7.1.2 on my laptop with Windows 8.1 pro, I get an error on start of webapplication.

In log table of SQL I have this record in logproperties field (if can usefuL):

 My OS is in Italian and the error is a "Null reference object" type.

I tried also to install a fresh copy of DNN 7.1 and get same error. I don't know why get this error also because in my production website I upgrade my DNN 7.0.6 to 7.1.2 and work fine (on Windows Server 2012 standard).

Be sure you have disabled the Support for 32Bit mode on the application pool.  Check permissions for the application pool user and the IUsers (IUser older Systems) and be sure you have inherit it to all subfolders and files.  Check your UAC Settings and try a disabling of it on your Windows System.

 

If you are using the source package be Aware it have not the complete compiled files in the bin Folder between you compiled the Project on your Visual Studio application.

Hi Matthias,

the 32bit support in apppool is disabled, the uac is the first disabled operation from windows 7 and above :), but when I try to set Everyone in folder I get Security Error in all DNN files.

 Now I try to delete all, recreate a new webapp and reinstall a fresh copy (with everyone settet before the install procedure).

I give you a reply when try the new install.

We have install Videos and tutorials and a wiki on this site, where describts the install procedure and recomandations.  Your appliaction pool user must have full permissions, and the IUsers must have read permissions.  This permissions must be inherited to all subfolders and files!  On some IIS you have to set permissions for your handlers.  IIS Handlers on your site must have execute permissions for scripts and executables.

Hi Matthias, I confirm that apply everyone before to start the installation the fresh install of DNN work fine.

Yeah, I know the video and tutorials :), install DNN since 2002 when starting to see the dotnetnuke 1.0.10e version :)
