Even with hosting provider, it is giving 404 error. He says site is able to connect to DB and it could be something wrong with code. If everything works fine on my local m/c I am hoping nothing wrong with my website.

Just a little background, I bought a new skin and replace the base DNN skin with new one. Was able to add new pages/module and never had problem.

I can send send you the zip file and db backup if you can take a look at it. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks
Ravi

I guess I found the solutions. There are 4 high level steps:

1) Copy the whole website folder to new machine/server.

2) Restore the backup DB.

3) Modify web.config file with new DB details

4) Modify PortalAlias table and change HTTPALIAS according to new host.

I tried this just now and very excited my site is running on new laptop. Now I need to deal with hosting provider. I hope not to see any more surprises. Will keep you posted or will come back begging for help.

In your portalalias table it's OK to have extra entries that are unused.

So probably the easiest way to get the right thing at your hosting provider is to add a portalalias on your test machine. Back up the DB, send it to the host and have them restore it.

Done!

Thanks Rich. That's a good workaround, so I don't need to modify the entry everytime I upload.
