Is it possible to not require an email address when creating new users?  I couldn't find a setting that would allow this to not be required.

The email is required for the user to be able to request a password reset link. Can you explain the use case of not requiring an email address?

So, we have a couple of "security" databases used for other systems that must be the source of record. When one of our user's logs into the DNN portal, I have written a bit of code in the Login.ascx that will call out to a WCF service to validate the user against one of our other databases. If the request is successful, I will then check to see if the user account exists in the DNN DB. I will then pass those credentials to the UserControl.ValidateUser() method, check for any metadata changes, update DNN if necessary and log them in. If the user does not yet exist, I will then create the user and add them to the appropriate role, then log them in.

In one of our security databases, email address is not required. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the quick response.

In that case, it is better if you would create your own membership provider, as that will allow you to totally control how new users are created and authenticated. See here for some info on that: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...
